We are thrilled to present Jane Reynold’s first solo exhibition of Still Life paintings in ‘Formal Arrangements’.
Systematic, ordered and intentional, these compositions are an investigation into the formal language of geometry, colour and light. Simple, flat toned objects with little to no detail are found, or made, then arranged under a single light source to create a geometric landscape.
Bold colour and tactile forms evoke playfulness, while conscious, ordered placement implies a still permanence and stability.
Unconcerned with everyday context, the value of each object is elevated through a visual relationship with one another, creating a system of shapes and colour planes that is greater than the sum of its parts.
I seek to create a quiet corner of the world, a moment to escape the noise and rush of daily life. Whether painting or observing, Still Life is just that, a chance to slow down and rest your eyes.
