Konstantin’s paintings require a slow working process. Intricate motifs taken from nature invite the viewer to take them in slowly. By applying paint with palette knives and small wooden implements, Konstantin creates rough surfaces. The intensity of each work is increased with strong colour harmonies and a diversity of texture, both of which characterise his practice.
An idiosyncratic liveliness also inhabits the unknown flora and formations of decay within each work. Viewed up close the images in Konstantin’s paintings can dissolve into dynamic abstract structures only to become all the more sensual when seen from a certain distance.
