Born at Walla Walla rockhole (Pollock Hills) near Kiwirrkura in Western Australia circa 1945, George (Tjampu) Tjapaltjarri began painting for Papunya Tula Artists in early 1983. The stories he painted relate to the sacred and secret Tingari travels in his homeland. His paintings contains all the important hallmarks of a senior Pintupi man – strength, boldness and rhythmical design.
