Opening on Thursday November 25th is a delightful exhibition presented by the Artists of Ampilatwatja. This exhibition showcases paintings that reveal relationship to Country. Most of the artists from Ampilatwatja paint Arreth which translates to “strong bush medicine”, providing insight into this communities ongoing use of traditional bush medicine. This exhibition also supplies narratives relating to generational connections to Country. Comprised of eleven new works, this exhibition will exhibit paintings by Denise Ngwarraye Bonney, Rosie Kemarre Mortoin, Jessie Ngwarraye Ross, Kindy Kemarre Ross, Michelle Pula Holmes, Elizabeth Ngwarraye Bonney, Sevenia Kemarre Bonney, Kathleen Nanima Rambler, Edie Kemarre Holmes, Alana Kgwarraye Holmes and Serina Mgwarreye Holmes.
Ampilatwatja is situated 320km north-east of Alice Springs and has a population of about 500. The Artists of Ampilatwatja art centre was established in 1999. In it’s twenty-two years of operation, the art centre has been integral in unifying a community while fostering the development of a communal visual language.
