Pollen

A cursory glance at the latest photo- graphs for his Pollen series initially show an engaging, if simple wildlife photo- graph of a bird mid-flight. Take a closer look, however, and the multiple layers and details that make up these decep- tively humble images begin to reveal themselves, divulging more and more

information the longer you look, until you begin to get a sense of the thought and painstaking work that underpins each photograph.

In this series, McGlennon celebrates the native Australian lorikeet, the first time he has worked with this riotously colourful bird.

His Pollen series is what he refers to as the ‘second story’ to his recent Awak- ening collection – shot in areas of bush- fire-ravaged South Australia, in which his majestic native birds are testament to nature’s ability to survive.
