Andrea Huelin is a Cairns-based painter who is best known for her colourful still life paintings of fruit, glassware and everyday household items. She is interested in colour and form, and capturing elusive qualities of lustre and light with her economical brushwork.
Huelin began her career as a journalist and broadcaster with ABC Radio before her love of the arts led her into marketing and communication roles in public art institutions. A twist of fate saw Huelin change track again in 2011 when she began her first formal studies in visual art. Since then, she has had several successful solo exhibitions and has taken part in group exhibitions in Australia and Germany, with her paintings included in the Commonwealth Government’s Artbank Collection.
In 2023, Andrea Huelin was awarded the winner of the 2023 Archibald Prize Packing Room Prize with her painting of Cal Wilson.
