Fighting Shield ‘kumba reipi’ Phantom Design
circa 2010, artist unknown, Wahgi Valley, Jiwaka province, Papua New Guinea
The shield is dominated by a large face of the Phantom – confronting from a distance in battle. Above is
“PHANTOM” in red; below are the two ring symbols from the Phantom’s two rings. The skull ring, is for the enemy, and it leaves a permanent impression on their forehead; the circular ring is for allies and friends, and general protection. Between is “GOST WHO WALKS”. This is a quote from a comic, where the Phantom was often described as the ‘Ghost Who walks in the Night’.
