In Unspoken Words series, Nasim Nasr captures the quiet tension between external calm and internal conflict.
The work reflects upon the silences we keep from fear of conflict, rejection or shame, and the deeper consequences of those silences: a gradual erosion of the self. Over time, we come to understand that in avoiding discomfort, we also avoid authenticity. That by preserving peace on the outside, we disturb something vital within. And the weight of unspoken words doesn’t fade, it compounds.
Blue ink emerges as a central symbol spilling, staining, seeping evoking the thoughts that press to the surface but remain unspoken. Traditionally linked to truth and trust, blue ink resonates with both personal and political meaning across cultures. In this context, it marks what is withheld, what remains unsaid.
Unspoken Words give form to the sentences we could have said or written but we swallow, the secrets we carry, and the ache of remaining unheard. Yet, in this series perhaps within that ache lies a sense of release.
