Ever since Regina Pilawuk Wilson’s golden yellow Syaw (fishnet) won the General Painting Award at the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Awards in 2003, her elegantly structured paintings have quietly but unequivocally fixed her name on the contemporary art map. Wilson is now one of Australia’s most senior contemporary artists and has exceeded at representing Australia on a global scale. In September, collectors of contemporary art will have access to new work by Wilson at Michael Reid Sydney + Berlin, booth F13.
In the last 12 months, Regina Wilson has delivered major exhibitions in Sydney and Melbourne with Michael Reid Gallery. Wilson presented a major triptych painting at the 2023 TarraWarra Biennale: ua usiusi fa’ava’asavili and has recently been commissioned by The Powerhouse Museum for new work bound for a museum exhibition in 2024.
