This later still life demonstrates Dupain’s enduring interest in the formal qualities of natural objects, a preoccupation that occupied him throughout his career. This work is held in the State Library of New South Wales collection as part of File 07: Pumpkin with butterfly, still life, May ‘90. In his later years, Dupain focused increasingly on still life subjects, particularly flowers and shells in his private work, finding solace and peace in capturing the beauty within these forms.
